So-Called Logic On Facebook

A guy on Facebook complained that a woman turned him down because she didn’t not want to deal with a man who has kids.  The guy has a daughter.  He was offended, and complained that he might have been more attractive to the woman if he was a baby’s daddy.

I mentioned that I was childfree, and would not date a man who had kids.  However, I also wrote that I applaud any man who take responsibility for their kids, since there are so many around who purposely drop the ball.  One of his other Facebook friends jumped down my throat.  Not only was I told that I insulted the man, but that I was “abnormal” and perhaps needed to be “checked” because I have no interest in being a parent.

Then dig this. . .he said “children are an expression of love”.  Hah!  The people who actually planned for and wanted them probably feel that way.  That doesn’t account for the many babies’ mama and daddies for whom the pregnancies were a big “whoops”.  Does he also think that rapists who impregnant women during their heinous act create those children out of love?  What about fathers and step-dads who molest their daughters?  Are the kids who may result from that horror a result of love?

There are many ways to express love.  Having children is not proof that anyone has love or is capable of demonstrating it.  The child abuse cases clearly prove that.  People treat their kids like gold (see Matthew 7: 11) and turn around and step on everyone else they come across.

  2. CHildren are “an expression of love???”"”"”"

That romanticized idea may be bought into during pregnancy and when the child is a baby, but you see so many women at the grocery store, or mall snapping at, and sometimes slapping their children, and cursing at them. These people had no business having kids, and I am sure they felt all romantic like that when the child was being conceived.
